EDCTP3 Partnership
The Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking has released its 2026 Work Programme, opening new opportunities for collaborative research to fight infectious diseases and strengthen health systems in sub-Saharan Africa. The programme continues the long-standing Europe–Africa partnership dedicated to developing new treatments, vaccines, diagnostics and research capacity.
What’s in the 2026 Work Programme?
The 2026 programme provides an indicative budget of around €147 million across six call topics:
Research and Innovation Actions (two-stage submission – Deadlines 1st stage: 04/03/2026 – 2nd stage 17/09/2026):
- Development of new tuberculosis drugs and chemoprophylaxis for adults and children
- Prevention and treatment approaches for lower respiratory tract infections
- Improved prevention, treatment and management of HIV co-infections and co-morbidities
- Global collaboration on climate-driven health threats, supporting integrated research on infectious diseases shaped by environmental change
-- Please be aware - co-funding for these RIA calls encouraged: These “global collaboration actions” allow EDCTP3 funding to be combined with contributions from other international funders, enabling large-scale, high-impact clinical studies. --
Coordination and Support Actions (single stage – Deadline 31/08/2026):
- Training and innovation networks for regulatory science, ethics oversight, pharmacovigilance and digital regulatory platforms
