We collaborate with cocoa smallholders in Central-South Côte d’Ivoire i) to look for more integrated pest management options (particularly for the widespread mirids Sahlbergella singularis and Distantiella theobroma); ii) to improve cocoa production by increasing pollinator (Forcipomyia spp.) numbers by exploring different cocoa landscape management options; and iii) to investigate how cocoa plantations (often old and unproductive) can be rehabilitated either by re- or under-planting or by mixed cropping of cocoa trees with either shade or fruit trees or with horticultural crops.
