Malta hosts representatives of CSOs in Mediterranean countries for a joint discussion on the Climate vulnerability and climate resilience from different perspective and how engaging the civic voice in decision-making process on regional climate policy. The meeting will be held in Malta and online to be host by the Genista Research Foundation (GRF) and the Tahadhari Center (Brussels).
A study we conducted on "Climate risk mitigation and adaptation to climate security in Mediterranean countries" in frame of ALF – K4A emphasizes the importance of collaboration in climate preparedness at the regional level, between neighboring countries, not only when targeting extreme climate events, as wildfires, but also when addressing long term objectives as SDGs.
In the study's assessment, it is recommended to focus on aspects of reducing gaps between countries in relation to their ability to cope with the climate crisis, encouraging awareness of the socio-economic aspects of climate crisis and developing tools and a network for exchanging information to be used by communities in the Mediterranean countries.
