New Five-Year Term of the Faculty Chair South Africa: Languages, Literatures, Culture, and Society (Ghent University) begins in the Academic Year 2025-2026
Starting in the 2025-2026 academic year, the Centre for the Study of the Afrikaans Language and South Africa (GAZ, Ghent University) will launch a second term of the Faculty Chair South Africa: Languages, Literatures, Culture, and Society. The chairholders will reside at Ghent University for a period of six weeks. In the first semester of the upcoming academic year, two appointment periods are planned: September–October 2025 and November–December 2025.
The academic guest (lecturer-researcher) will stay at Ghent University for six weeks, providing advice to (PhD) students on their research and contributing to the development of research projects. During their stay, the visiting scholar will deliver at least one public lecture and/or an academic oration (on their research) and participate in activities organized by GAZ.
