Together with Teklehaymanot Weldemichel, Prof. Jan Nyssen assisted the Conflict and Environment Observatory in carrying out a study on the impact of the Tigray War on the region’s environment, particularly the woody vegetation.
Henrike Schulte to Bühne (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Henrike-Schulte-To-Buehne) has done the research, using most advanced remote sensing techniques, while Tekle and Prof. Nyssen assisted with contextual feedback, field knowledge and ground control determination. Ground truthing information was also provided by several UGent MSc and PhD students.
