Ghent Alumni Event in Ethiopia
On Sunday November 23, the Ghent Alumni gathered for the 25th Great Ethiopian Run in Addis Ababa. More than 30 alumni across different Ethiopian universities and research institutes (e.g. Ambo University, Haramaya University, Hawassa University, Jimma University) walked / ran the 10 km through streets of the capital. Following the race, all participants joined for a lunch buffet at the historical Ras Hotel.
As one of the next steps to strengthen the Ghent Alumni Chapter in Ethiopia, the steering committee has developed a road map to administratively establish an Association of Ghent University Alumni in Ethiopia. In light of 120 diplomatic relationships between the Ethiopian and Belgian government (2026), the members also plan additional activities to enhance the visibility of the Ghent Alumni.
