The timing for surgery of depressed skull fracture (DSF) in low-income-countries remains unclear due to the risks from the intraoperative bleeding versus surgical site infection. Neuro-inflammation induced by trauma, anaesthesia, and surgery stress predispose patients to late post-traumatic epilepsy. Indepth immunological, imaging, and clinical studies of patients with DSF could improve the understanding and decision-making of the surgical timing.
