This Ph.D. project examines the nature, scope, and modalities of victim participation in transitional justice processes in the Democratic Republic of Congo with a special emphasis on institutional reform. Through an in-country comparison of institutional reform initiatives in five provinces of the DR of Congo, the project examines the mechanisms of youth participation in institutional reform initiatives and the effects of such participation to guarantee non-repetition of human rights abuses and protection youth right rights as victims of extended armed conflicts.
